Quiet Standards is where I document how I keep a real house running.
Everything started when I noticed that the efficiency and continuous improvement I use at work could be used at home. My mom always said that everywhere you go in the house, you should put something back in its place. I started questioning: why is everything out of place all the time?
That was when I decided, in my own way, to improve the system. Not minimal. This is a running house with kids and pets. Not perfect. This is a house with working parents. Not aesthetically flawless. This is real life.
I live in a rental. In a foreign country. I have kids. No free childcare. I work from home. We host. We cook real food. We accumulate school papers, sports bags, laundry, moods, and noise. Instead of pretending that doesn’t happen, I build systems around it.
This space is where I write about what actually works, what doesn’t, and whatever else might help us live this life a little better.
I am not trying to create a perfect home. I am trying to create a stable one. Where the effort is real and efficient, and the structure is built one piece at a time. I care about things being done with intention, not perfection, because perfection is an unattainable level.
You won’t find extreme minimalism here, or hustle culture productivity systems, nor fantasy versions of motherhood. You will find checklists I’ve used that worked, even if only for a while. And I’ll also post the one that started working after that one.
We’ll talk about decision filters that stop unnecessary spending. HA HA. A dream. I love cooking, so there will be kitchen systems that prevent dinner from becoming drama and keep the love intact. And ways to host even when life is loud.
This is a working document of a working life.
